Out of the 87 charges against Dale Hausner, prosecutors have covered ground in just nine of them so far, encompassing at least three murders in mid 2005 and six other crimes. In exactly none have they begun presenting evidence connecting Hausner to the crime. It’s almost as if the prosecutors are presenting the case in the order it was investigated and discovered. First came a series of mysterious, seemingly random shootings. Then came the connection that all were possibly related. Finally came the identification of suspects.

Today, for instance, prosecutors began with the crimes of June 29, 2005. The mother of David Estrada testified about her 20-year-old son, where he had been living and working. Asked if she knew who might have wanted to kill her son, she said no. The owner of a horse killed later that day said the same thing.

It has been the same throughout the trial. To my knowledge, the name Hausner has not been mentioned by a single witness.
